The Consular Section at the U.S. Consulate in Shanghai will be closed to the public on Monday, September 7, in observance of the U.S. Labor Day holiday. The Consular Section will also be closed on Monday, September 28, Wednesday, September 30 and October 1-5 in observance of Mid-Autumn Festival and the Chinese National Holidays. No visa services will be provided during these periods of time. American Citizens needing emergency services during the holiday closures should call (021) 3217-4650.
The consular section will also be closed Monday, October 12 through October 16, 2015 to continue upgrading our facilities. During this time, the consular section will not be able to provide nonimmigrant visa services or routine American Citizen Services. The consular section will reopen for visa appointments and all American Citizen Services on Monday, October 19, 2015.
We strongly encourage American Citizens requiring passport, notarial or Consular Report of Birth Abroad services to make an appointment here .html throughout September or after October 19.
Nonimmigrant visa applicants wishing to travel on or before October 12 should complete an application as soon as possible and schedule an appointment to interview with a consular officer using our website,www.ustraveldocs.com or by calling 5291-5200 (in Shanghai) or +86 021-5191-5200 (outside of Shanghai).
