What is a passport card?
The U.S. Passport Card can be used to enter the United States from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Bermuda at land border crossings or sea ports-of-entry and is more convenient and less expensive than a passport book. The passport card does not replace the passport book and cannot be used for international travel by air.
How much does a passport card cost?
Adults aged 16 and over: Fee for first time applicants is $55 and for previous passport holders is $30.
Minors under age of 16: Fee for first time applicants is $40 and for previous passport holders is $15.
How long will it take to process and how do applicants know the passport card is ready?
A passport card will take about four weeks to process. Applicants will receive two separate email notifications if they’ve applied for both the passport book and the passport card.
How to apply for a passport card?
Fill out an application form, which is same as passport book application, check the box on top where applicants may indicate that they wish to receive a U.S. Passport Card.
