Tory Burch Vice President for Design of Accessories Elizabeth Kiester traveled to Yunnan and Chengdu in a program called “Finding Yourself Through Fashion.” In Yunnan, Kiester met with community leaders, hearing impaired students at Yunnan Special College, experts at Yunnan Minorities Museum, ethnic minority cast members and costume designers at the “Yunnan Impressions” theatre show, entrepreneurs working to preserve local culture, local business owners, and students at Dali University’s fashion design department. Kiester spoke about her experience starting her own business in Cambodia, her work empowering women and young people to use their traditional culture to create global, contemporary fashion, and how American designers are inspired by Chinese culture. In Chengdu, she addressed similar topics with fashion design students at Polus International College, members of the public at Lane Crawford in IFS, and the city’s fashion and cultural elite at a finale event hosted at the Ascott Service Apartments.
