THE CONSULATE GENERAL OF THE UNITED STATES IN GUANGZHOU IS TRANSMITTING THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION THROUGH THE CONSULATE WARDEN SYSTEM AS A PUBLIC SERVICE TO AMERICAN CITIZENS IN CHINA. PLEASE DISSEMINATE THIS MESSAGE TO ALL U.S. CITIZENS IN YOUR ORGANIZATION OR NEIGHBORHOOD.
Thank you for enrolling in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP). Enrolling in STEP not only allows you to receive the most current information we compile about the country you are traveling or living in, it also enables you to receive updates, including any Travel Warnings and Travel Alerts that might be issued for those locations.
One of the benefits to STEP is that once you sign up you can add or delete trips from your account depending on your travel plans. This ensures that you are always receiving relevant information for any location where you are residing abroad. It is important to keep your STEP account up to date, particularly location, phone number, and email address so we have a reliable means to contact you in the event of an emergency or natural disaster.
As always, your privacy is paramount. Any personal information you provide through STEP is protected under the Privacy Act of 1974. This law prohibits us from sharing any information about you with anyone without your written authorization.
In addition to the STEP program, we are proud to announce that our Guangzhou American Citizen Services (ACS) WeChat account is approaching its one year anniversary. Follow us on WeChat to receive weekly messages on everything from ACS services and answers to frequently asked questions, to fun facts about life in China.

Regularly monitor the State Department’s website, where you can find current Travel Warnings, including any Travel Warnings for China, Travel Alerts, and Worldwide Cautions.
