The U.S. Consulate regularly engages with the local community to share information about American culture and society, as well as education opportunities. We welcome visitors to attend public programs at the Consulate. The Consulate hosts regular outreach programs in English, including weekly Thursday evening lectures, monthly children’s English corners and monthly movie nights. In addition, Consulate officers also enjoy visiting local institutions to give talks and attend programs.

The Consulate Speakers Program helps connect the U.S. Consulate community with Chinese audiences in schools, universities, libraries, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and groups throughout Northeast China. The goal of our program is to broaden local understanding of the United States, as well as to promote dialogue and sharing of ideas between Chinese and Americans. The Consulate Speakers Program also provides an opportunity for English language students to practice their English skills and think critically about global issues. Chinese language speakers are also available for discussions.
Consulate speakers are available to speak on a wide variety of topics in locations throughout Northeast China. Possible discussion topics include: Sino-U.S. Relations, U.S. Government, the Role of the U.S. Consulate, Life and Culture in the United States, the U.S. Economy, Health and Medicine, English Conversation, and Studying in the United States, among others. Other topic suggestions are welcome. Speakers from the U.S. Consulate will present background information about the desired topic and then engage the audience in thoughtful discussions on the issue. They can address any size group – from single classrooms to large assemblies of students or professionals. The Consulate Speakers Program is a free service offered by the U.S. Consulate General in Shenyang.

Admission and Conduct Rules
Shenyang American Center is the American Consulate venue for culture, education and outreach in Northeast China. To provide the best possible experience for everyone, we kindly ask guests to follow the admission and conduct rules indicated below. Together we can create a welcoming and friendly environment.
ENTRANCE
· All visitors are welcome unless otherwise posted.
· Admission is free of charge.
· Visitors aged 14 and under must be accompanied by a parent or a guardian.
· All visitors and their belongings are subject to screening by security personnel.
· Laptops, iPads and cameras are not allowed and cannot be stored during a visit.
· Portable electronic devices, such as mobile phones and other tablets, smartwatches and vehicle remote controls are permitted to be stored.
CONDUCT
Shenyang American Center is a welcoming place for open dialogue. Guests must be respectful of America Center property and all people who enter this space. The following actions are examples of conduct NOT ALLOWED on America Center property:
· Intentionally opening emergency exit for non-emergencies.
· Abusing American Center equipment and /or property.
· Disruptive behavior, such as creating loud noises, screaming, or any other inappropriate behavior that causes staff or guests in attendance to feel uncomfortable.
· Having offensive body odor or personal hygiene so as to annoy other guests.
· Physical harassment, threatening or intimidating behaviors, e.g., demeaning, abusive or offensive language or comments, staring, threats of violence, etc.
· Comments that discriminate on the basis of race, gender, sexuality, disability, religion or any other grounds.
· In cases of disruptive behavior, guest identification including but not limited to name and phone number, may be requested.
Shenyang American Center staff or security guards will deny entry or remove visitors who violate any of these rules or engage in activities that do not conform to common understandings of appropriate, considerate behavior.
