Have you ever participated in an exchange program such as the Fulbright, Humphrey or International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) sponsored by the U.S. Department of State? If so, we’re interested in hearing from you.  Returning participants of exchange programs have become known as “alumni” of USG programs. Below please see a list of some of the existing exchange programs in China that are sponsored by the U.S. Government:

  • American Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL)
  • Citizen Exchanges Program
  • Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (Global UGRAD)
  • Fortune/U.S. State Department Global Women’s Mentoring Partnership

You are invited to join the online Chinese and global alumni communities of U.S. Government-funded exchange programs: International Exchange Alumni (IEA) website.

On the State Alumni website, you can…

  • Meet, interact with, learn from, and share with fellow Chinese Alumni at the Chinese Community website
  • Network with thousands of registered Alumni from around the world
  • Find grant and job opportunities worldwide
  • Access over 10,000 periodicals in online library
  • Participate in global discussions and live web chats
  • Publish your views and find out what others have to say

Alumni who participate in an exchange program after September 2015 will receive an email invitation to join the IEA website and activate their accounts. This means that alumni no longer go to to register directly.

What if you did not receive an email invitation and would like an IEA account? Or, what happens if you went on your program before September 2015, but you do not have an account?  Please follow these steps:

  • Make sure your program is in the list of exchange programs above;
  • Email with the following information:
  1. First Name and Last Name (this should be the name you used while you were on your program);
  2. Program name (from the list of exchange programs above);
  3. Program dates (start and end);
  4. The country you are from;
  5. The country where your exchange took place;
  6. Email address;
  7. If you have a certificate of completion, please attach it.
