The program provides U.S. faculty and professionals with short-term grants of two to six weeks to collaborate with professional counterparts in China on curriculum and faculty development, institutional planning and a variety of other activities. Up to 10 grants are offered for China every year. A Chinese university interested in requesting a Fulbright Senior Specialist must seek the approval of the U.S. Embassy in Beijing or U.S. Consulate in their region, who will provide them with the appropriate application form. This contact should be made at least 3 months prior to the envisioned start date for the project. In Beijing consular district: The requesting university inviting a Specialist for the fall semester should submit an application by June 1. For the spring semester, the deadline is November 1.
