Cultural Affairs Officer Josh Lustig spoke at the opening ceremony for the 2nd Shanghai Summer Jazz Camp. The camp featured classes for students of all ages and skill levels from American musicians and teachers from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. The camp was part of a grant Post provided to organizer Jazz Education Abroad, which runs Jazz education exchange programs around the world. The camp attracted twice the expected number of students, showing the interest for music education programs. To kick off the event, noted saxophonist Antonio Hart and his band played alongside some of China’s most promising young brass musicians. Representatives from the New England Conservatory of Music were also in attendance.
