Celebrating Father’s Day in English with Primary School Students in Chongqing

children in a classroomJun. 8, Chongqing (Chengdu) – Chengdu English Language Fellow Rebekah Gordon provided teachers with a teaching demonstration lesson while sharing American culture with students at the Primary School Affiliated with Southwest University. Gordon explained the cultural origins of Father’s Day in both America and China then focused on teaching students six new adjectives that could be used to describe one’s father. Gordon also read the children’s book “My Dad” to the students, who were told to make the appropriate action when they heard any of the six new adjectives. Finally, each student drew a picture of his or her father with a single sentence in English.
